82caceda08 A minor change to ROMIO's configure script: make it use exactly the
same "restrict" check as the top-level OMPI configure.ac script so
that it will guarantee to always get the same result. Therefore, the
#define for restrict will always have the same value in both
opal_config.h and romioconf.h, and we get 7 less warnings (6 in the IO
ROMIO component, 1 in ROMIO itself) when compiling with icc on Linux
(because PAC_C_RESTRICT and AC_C_RESTRICT would get different values
for the "restrict" #define in this case).

9e840fbe14 The missing orted bug is now fixed. orterun will not deadlock when
the program it try to spawn is missing.

Description of the problem: When the rsh pls try to spawn a local
process which is missing (such as a removed orted) the orterun
deadlock.

Description of the fix: The forked child deal with finding the
program to be executed. If it fails to find it, then instead of
calling exit (as a normal forked program is expected to do) it
continue the execution using a execution path it was never
expected to use (back in orterun and then main). Bad things
happens as expected. Forcing the child to use exit when it fails
to find the orted (and forcing the child to use exit everywhere
instead of return) correct the logic of the rsh pls and make it
behave as expected.

c9dc918355 Updates to the TM checks, inspired by Bas van der Viles:
* If pbs-config can be found (either in the PATH or the
--with-tm=<dir> directory tree), use that to search for the relevant
compiler / linker flags to get TM support.
 * Fix a long-standing bug that if --without-tm is supplied, we'll
still try to look for tm support

8f119d9063 Closes trac:977
Fix for memory corruption in the restarted process stack. This stemed from
the brute force method we were previously using. This commit fixes this by
using a lighter weight solution focused in the r2 BML instead of above the PML.
This is a more efficient and flexible solution, and it solves the original
problem.

In the process I pulled out the ft_event function in the tcp BTL and r2 BML
into a set of *_ft.[c|h] files just to keep any updates to these code paths
as isolated as possible to make merging easier on everyone.

dce72aab70 Prior to Mac OS X 10.3, the length modifier "ll" wasn't
supported, but "q" was for long long. This isn't ANSI
C and causes a warning when using PRI?64 macros. We
don't support versions prior to OS X 10.3, so we dont'
need such backward compatibility. Instead, redefine
the macros to be "ll", which is ANSI C and doesn't
cause a compiler warning.

51f286d737 Just like r14289 on the ORTE trunk:
Per discussions with Brian and Ralph, make a slight correction in
where components are installed. Use $pkglibdir, not $libdir/openmpi,
so that when compiled in the orte trunk, components are installed to
the right directory (because the component search patch is checking
$pkglibdir).

20f0ec584a A tricky optimization. On my test machine it improve the bandwidth by about 3Mb/s out of 580Mb/s. But
the real interest is for small to middle size unexpected messages. The unexpected messages are copied
by the PML in it's own unexpected buffers. Therefore, there is no reason to make a first copy in the
TCP BTL. The BTL can handle to the PML it's own buffer, and can be sure that once the callback
completed it can reuse the buffer, no matter what happened with the fragment.

d7e428909e two fixes, one mine, the other gleb's, I'm committing for gleb due to
time difference...

1) The PML makes an assumption on local/remote completion semantics of the BTL
which Self BTL does not obey, nor should it, so we fix the PML
2) The Get protocol must handle the case when sender and reciever do not agree
on wheter the data is contiguous

0083eba18e Comment out the PAC_C_RESTRICT test from ROMIO's configure.in script.
The top-level OMPI configure script already checks for "restrict" and
will issue a #define for it. PAC_C_RESTRICT would also check for
restrict, but sometimes come up with a different answer than the
top-level OMPI configure script, thereby resulting in conflicting
#define's for "restrict" (e.g., icc 9.0/9.1 on linux x86-64).

So it's easiest just to remove this test from ROMIO's configure.in
script.

Collect the base 'orted' command line into a base function since most of the
PLS components were duplicating this code. Add AMCA parameter command line
component to the base set.

Add Aggregate MCA parameter support to the following PLS components:
 - gridengine
 - process
 - slurm
 - poe
 - tm

Improve support for 'rsh' component.

Did/could not support the following components:
 - bproc
 - proxy
 - xcpu
 - cnos
 - xgrid

The above components had peculiar needs that made it non-trivial to add an
option. The authors of these components need to help in supporting this
new option.

I was only able to test the SLURM and RSH components due to system availability.
The others should work without problem.

while LAM/MPI was at IU (well after it was at Notre Dame or OSC). I wrote

copyrights should never have been committed into the LAM/MPI tree, much
less the Open MPI tree as this code has no origin with either institution.

entirely by myself), with later additions after I moved to Los Alamos.
