Brian Barrett 1d02b9e7b5 Fix a bunch of issues exposed by Ken Cain in getting Open MPI to work with

VxWorks.  Still some issues remaining, I'm sure.

To build libevent, type

$ ./configure && make

Install as root via

# make install

You can run the regression tests by

$ make verify

Before, reporting any problems, please run the regression tests.
